Congratulations to Birmingham on hosting such a successful Commonwealth Games over the past couple of weeks - a record number of medals for the home nations should give many of us a reason for celebration.
Have you checked to see if any competitors from your local authority area was a medal winner? If so there must be a good case for your civic head to invite them in for some well earned publicity, or, if they say they are in training for the next event, at least write to them and publish it on your website.
Don't be put off by GDPR - many competitors have a social media presence or you could ask the governing body of their sport to pass on a message
