The National Association of Civic Officers (NACO) was formally founded in 1999, growing from the Civic Secretaries Group—an informal network established in 1992. Our mission: to cultivate, share, and champion best practices in civic offices throughout the UK.
We’re proud to offer trusted support in training and professional development, guided by an Executive with deep subject expertise. Over the years, NACO has grown to become the UK’s largest and most respected organisation of its kind.
Governed by a democratically elected Executive Committee, NACO encourages all members to stand for election or contribute in meaningful ways. We are a welcoming, collaborative community where mutual support and the exchange of ideas are core benefits of membership.
For more information about how we operate, you can download a copy of our constitution or contact any member of the Executive Committee.
We also maintain a Business Plan - a living document reviewed at least twice each year - Guiding our ongoing development and activities.
